Lonely Sojourn

chaks's picture

As I tread through life,
I smile at the laughter around me,

I feel the glances of everyone,
So many questions they want to ask thee,
Yet I see compassion in those eyes,
I see bewilderment in many more,
And all I have is a silence to give back..

Sometimes we need to change,
We need to know we are lonelier still,
What others want us to understand,
Can never be what we want to believe..

As I race past the cars on the road,
The miles I put on in life,
But only a glimpse I get of the good things in life..
Like when I spot a happy couple undecided
in a car to turn left or right,
I see the love there that seldom flickers..

I see those stately cars, always in a hurry,
Like time seldom stops for them,
Yet I see those cars with music booming out,
In relaxation they speed through,
driving with the beats of the drum...

I smile at the laughter around me,

I feel the glances of everyone,
So many questions they want to ask thee,
Yet I see compassion in those eyes,
I see bewilderment in many more,
And all I have is a silence to give back..

As I pass the wavering fields,
The children playing around the streets,
They stop and stare,
Some ignore like as if nothing went by..
No fault of theirs, some have pursuits greater to achieve,
While some get intimidated by others..

I smile at the laughter around me,

I feel the glances of everyone,
So many questions they want to ask thee,
Yet I see compassion in those eyes,
I see bewilderment in many more,
And all I have is a silence to give back..

As I move in my lonely sojourn in life,
I feel not lonely as I am there,
For everyone and everything,
But detached is my soul,
That I sold for the pact I took..
Not knowing anymore what happiness is,
Masked by the jokes and sarcasm...

Life moves its way through the roads,
Crossing junctures, moving uphill,
Sometimes moving downhill..

All roads lead to death they say,
Which Road I take I know not anymore,
Some destinations are fixed for me,
So I have to go through them
Before I decide where to next..

I smile at the laughter around me,

I feel the glances of everyone,
So many questions they want to ask thee,
Yet I see compassion in those eyes,
I see bewilderment in many more,
And all I have is a silence to give back..
